One response to “Disaster Recovery: Developing & Testing A Solid Plan Is Key To Quick Data Recovery”

  1. Failover Testing With a Follow Up Audit Works…

Even with an automated fail over via SAN-to-SAN infrastructures, you’ll learn a lot by holding an annual ‘live’ practice of your fail over plan (with partial apps fail over testing every six months or so).

    For example, you’ll discover:

    - just how ‘ready’ your support, engineering and customer service teams are when the ‘normal’ way of operating is flipped off. (In theory, this should be transparent to a fail over but …)

    - If your BCP/DR mgr (you do have one?) has the awareness to track what worked, what broke and who has the responsibility for documenting and fixing whatever audit points were identified.

(And all this before the next test is held… or, heaven forbid, before real customers get impacted.)
