There are a number of public cloud options available. Some like Amazon’s EC2 are basic cloud servers designed to provide the lowest cost computing services for non-critical applications like web or development servers. Others are designed to deliver the high availability and security that enterprises require in their private clouds. The later, we call “Managed Cloud Hosting”.

“Cloud computing” is still used to mean a lot of things to a lot of people. When it comes to slicing up the cloud taxonomy a little further, there’s still quite a bit of confusion between the public cloud and private cloud computing.
